DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE

In order to provide comprehensive cancer care to one and all, through the objective of Tata Memorial Centre to deliver excellence in Service, Education and Research, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital (HBCH), Lahartara and Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre (MPMMCC), Sundarbagiya, BHU Campus, Varanasi were established in Varanasi. Although HBCH started functioning on 1 May, 2018, both the hospitals were formally inaugurated and dedicated towards service of the people on 19 February, 2019 by Honorable Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India.

Both hospitals complement each other in services offered, have common staff members, are under the same administration and committed towards bringing affordable cancer care to the doorstep of the people of Purvanchal and adjoining areas. The catchment area of the hospital comprises of far-flung areas like states of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand. The hospitals are equipped with latest state of the art facilities to provide care in the fields of Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology and Medical Oncology. In addition, the hospitals have advanced diagnostic facilities in specialties of Biochemistry, Haemato-pathology, Histopathology, Cytopathology, Microbiology, Radio-diagnosis and Nuclear Medicine. Facilities of Preventive Oncology, Palliative Medicine and Transfusion Medicine are also available. With the available faculties and dedicated trained staff, efforts are made to provide world class state of the art care to the patients attending the twin hospitals. In about five years, 83,835 new patients have been registered for treatment. HBCH has a high-end functional Bone Marrow Transplant Facility. An advanced Interventional Radiodiagnosis facility has become functional.

Apart from delivering high quality cancer care, a number of medical and paramedical courses have been initiated to provide highly trained manpower for the country.

I always see the centers as an entity that could make a difference with its quality and competitively priced service, research and education. The journey of HBCH & MPMMCC never ends. With the support of our dedicated team, I am confident that HBCH and MPMMCC will continue to achieve milestones of excellence in the years to come.
