About

The discipline of Clinical Biochemistry is an area in Chemistry, concerned with the analysis and diagnosis of various pathological conditions forming a way across patients and clinicians. This Laboratory at HBCH became operational on the 1st May 2018. Biochemistry Lab has also been set up at MPMMCC, Varanasi and has been functional since February 2019. Both the labs are equipped with high throughput state of art auto-analysers. The labs have been participating in internal and external quality assurance programs.

The services provided by the department include:

Department offers various laboratory services like clinical biochemistry, tumour markers, immunoassay & therapeutic drug monitoring. We have an extensive test menu of more than 100 assays. During the period 01.01.2022 to 31.12.2022, the laboratory performed 1,191,559 routine biochemistry tests on an average TAT of 03 hours and for emergency within 02 Hours along with 74528 tumor markers and immunoassay. Department provides 24x7 laboratory services. The special investigations like therapeutic drug monitoring services by HPLC and myeloma test services are also done. We are further working towards the establishment of metabolomics lab. The department is under the process of NABL accreditation.

Research & Educational Activities:

The lab supports research and educational activities for the development and growth of employees.

1. Refresher training for staffs is being conducted on regular basis for better knowledge and hands on experience on the analyzer.
2. Seminars, in house discussions are conducted on a weekly basis.
3. Various International & National Conference, Workshops, CME attended and Paper presented by staffs of Biochemistry Dept.
4. Journal clubs are conducted to enlighten everyone in the areas of research.
5. Student classes, presentations and half yearly exams conducted.
